Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Tricked by an evil Vizier, the young Prince of Persia releases the Sands of Time, destroying a kingdom and turning everyone in it into horrible demons. Now you must redeem your fatal mistake by defeating the evil wizard, and restoring peace to the kingdom.

I remember playing the SNES version of Prince of Persia. I remember it was fun and very challenging. That was many years ago and since then I had completely forgotten about this game. Now, a new version of Prince of Persia is about to hit all major platforms including PC, and it looks like the Prince is ready to rule them all.

The visuals in this game look fantastic. Stages feature rich textures, and characters move very fluidly. You can adjust the camera with the right thumbstick, or you can let the game choose the best angle. There's also a 1st-person view, essential for finding poles, stairs, or ropes.

Graphics are nice, but the gameplay is where Prince of Persia really shines. The palace is packed with lethal traps, like spikes that pop up from the floor, razor blades coming out of walls, and fake floors that break when you step on them. Lucky for you, there are many ways to avoid them. You can run, climb, jump, hang from ledges, run on walls, swing from poles, and more. As tough as a trap may seem, there is always a way out. You just have to think. And even if you make a mistake and die, your ability to control time lets you go back a few seconds and try again.

While exploring the huge palace you'll come across many enemies. Good thing you have a big sword and dagger ready, because you're going to need it. Fighting is very easy and looks awesome. The Prince can perform many stylish combos and even some finishing moves. Dante, Niobe and Ghost have some serious competition.

So far the game looks, feels, and plays like a winner. It'll definitely be on my wish list this Christmas. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will hit stores on Oct 28 (GBA), Nov 11 (PS2), Nov 18 (Xbox, GC) and Dec 2 (PC).
